Somewhere past the last trading post, where the map stops being helpful, a man learns what he actually owns. A compass. A pocketknife. A grandfather's watch that hasn't lost a minute since Truman. At the end of a long day these things want a proper place to rest, not the bottom of a rucksack and not the dirt beside the fire.
Hence this tray. Some call it a valet, some a butler. We call it functional art and leave it at that. Medium ranger tan 18 oz. waxed canvas, the same hardworking cloth Frost River favors, lined in crazy horse leather that looks as though it's already crossed a continent or two. Water beads up and rolls off. Your valuables stay dry and unscratched.
When it's time to break camp, unsnap the solid brass snaps, join them horizontally, and fold. It closes into a 5" x 5" square that does double duty as a pouch. Snap it up as an 8" x 8" tray, or lay it fully open as an 11" x 11" mat. Three configurations, one piece of kit, no wasted motion.
Equally at home on a fallen log or a mahogany desk. Made in USA.
